No Cats in this Alley

Whoa, hold your horses (or should I say, hold your cats?). Let’s set the record straight: I am single, but I am not, I repeat, NOT, a cat lady. Now, don’t get me wrong; I’ve got nothing against those adorable, whisker-faced, purring machines. It’s just that when it comes to choosing between ‘meow’ and ‘woof’, my heart beats a steady drumroll for Team Canine.

Picture me: a proud single woman in her prime, unapologetically indulging in freedom, whims, and a furiously wagging tail greeting me every time I come home. Because, let’s face it, who needs a partner when you have a four-legged, tail-wagging, drool-dripping bundle of joy who thinks you’re the absolute best thing since that half-chewed tennis ball they found under the couch?

The world has a funny way of linking singleness with an abundance of cats. But why? Why can’t I be a dog person? Why can’t I be the woman who comes home from a long day, kicks off her shoes, and loses herself in the excited barks and prancing paws of her loyal companion?

Sure, a dog might not possess the graceful aloofness of a cat, but there’s something inexplicably comforting about their shameless enthusiasm. Whether you’ve been away for a week or just popped out to take the trash, in their eyes, your return is nothing short of a red-carpet event. And trust me, nothing beats being on the receiving end of that kind of unconditional adoration.

I mean, my furry friend doesn’t care if I’m wearing the latest fashion or lounging in my decade-old, wine-stained sweats. And if I decide to belt out show tunes off-key while cleaning? Well, he’s my biggest (and let’s face it, only) fan!

And hey, being a single dog lady comes with its perks. No sharing the remote (or the popcorn), long, heart-clearing walks without any “we need to talk” talks, and a buddy who agrees that, yes, every day is a good day for a pajama day.

So, here’s my shoutout to all the dog-devoted singles out there who are breaking the cat lady stereotype, one wagging tail at a time. To us, and to the furry, drooling bundles of joy that fill our days with love, companionship, and plenty of laughter. Singlehood never looked so fetching!
